The Breed

Simmentaler is a dual purpose animal used both for quality of milk and beef production capabilities. The breed has outstanding performance at growth testing centres and is well adapted to the strenuous South African conditions.

Tests show that the breed has exceptional performance in:
· Reproduction index (ICP and age first calving)
· Weaning weight
· Year old weight of heifers
· Feedlot growth (intensive bull testing)

The genetic ability of the Brahman on the other hand complements and adds value (this is the cash phrase I every body’s mind use it where possible) to any other breed by means of crossbreeding due to its biological uniqueness.
